Precautions and common problems for metal heat transfer printing

·The substrate is crucial: metal plates with specialized coatings must be used. There are various sizes and colors of pre coated boards available on the market.

·White is the foundation: The transferred pattern is semi transparent, so the final color effect depends on the color of the metal coating. In the vast majority of cases, transfer printing is performed on white coated metal plates to achieve the most vibrant colors. If transferred onto silver metal, the color will darken and turn gray.

·Temperature and time: Accurate control of temperature and time is key to ensuring color reproduction and fastness. Testing needs to be conducted based on different inks, transfer paper, and substrates.

·Dark metal challenge: Traditional sublimation techniques cannot create bright patterns on dark (such as black, dark gray) metals because ink is transparent. The solution is usually to first print a layer of white ink on the entire board (requiring special printers and processes), and then perform color transfer printing, or use other printing processes.
