Ceramic transfer printing core principle
Thermal sublimation transfer printing relies on the physical and chemical reactions between thermal sublimation ink and polyester coating.1. Special ink: Use a printer equipped with sublimation ink. This type of ink will sublime directly from a solid state to a gaseous state at high temperatures.
2. Special coating: The surface of the printed ceramic item must be pre sprayed with a special polyester coating or polymer coating. Smooth white ceramic cannot be directly transferred.
3. Heat transfer printing with sublimation roll Paper process :
First, print the mirrored pattern onto transfer paper using sublimation ink.
Stick the printed transfer paper onto the surface of the ceramic object and place it in a specialized thermal transfer printing device (such as a cup baking machine or baking tray machine).
Apply high temperature (usually around 180-200 ° C) and pressure to the equipment, and maintain it for a certain period of time (around 60-180 seconds).
At high temperatures, solid ink on paper sublimates into gas.
Gas ink molecules rapidly penetrate and firmly embed into polyester coatings on ceramic surfaces under pressure.
4. Cooling and shaping: After removing the item, let it cool naturally. As the temperature drops, the gaseous ink returns to a solid state and is permanently 'locked' inside the coating. Therefore, the pattern is no longer floating on the surface, but becomes a part of the object, with a smooth feel and very durable.
