The core characteristics of low weight Sublimation Paper
To understand its application, one must first understand its characteristics:
1. Ultra thin and soft : This is the most prominent feature. Thinner paper means its own structure is looser.
2. Fast ink absorption speed: Due to the large gaps between paper fibers, it can quickly absorb water-based sublimation ink, reduce the diffusion of ink droplets on the surface, and help improve printing accuracy.
3. High transfer rate: The paper is thin and contains relatively less gum (a coating that prevents ink penetration). During thermal transfer, there is less ink residue on the paper, and more ink can sublime and transfer to the substrate. This makes the colors more vibrant, with high saturation, and can save about 10% -15% of ink.
4. Easy to Curl : The disadvantage is that due to its thinness, it is more prone to curling after ink absorption, which requires higher requirements for the paper feeding system of the printing equipment and requires adjustment of the pressure of the paper roller.
5. High requirements for print heads : Due to its surface not being as smooth as high weight paper, the print head is closer to the paper. If the paper shakes or has defects, it is easy to cause print head scratches and damage expensive print heads.
6. Easy to transmit light: Very thin, the pattern may be faintly visible from the back after printing.
The thick coating of the inkjet sublimation paper has a microporous structure and together with the specially engineered base paper functions as the perfect receiver of printed sublimation ink.
